No I would not accept. I would ignore the request. It is a bad idea to have your boss mixed in with your personal life through social networking. We tend to say and do things on social networking sites that are pretty open and in an unguarded moment you may say something or post a picture or video that may get you in hot water with your boss. When you add someone on facebook that person has access to everything on your profile unless you limit access for that person (a fact that they can figure out).

I have a number of coworkers, including managers, that I communicate with on Facebook. Adjusting your personal privacy settings on the site is definitely an option. I don't worry about that myself. I just consider what Im posting. I don't publicly post anything that might be considered offensive or detrimental to my job/workplace (if I really want to tell someone, I send them a private message). But basically, I just use the rule of thumb of "If I say this, am I going to have to worry about people talking about it at work?" If so, I keep it private or just to myself.

HELL no. If I felt like messing with him, I might make an alternate Facebook and invite my mother, my clergyman and my boss. But mostly I would ignore his request in a heart beat. My Facebook is none of his business and it's about time we stood up to domineering and intrusive bosses.
Sorry boss, I have a personal life in which you are not invited, nor are you welcome. You are boss while I am at work. Once I leave this building, I am boss of the rest of my life. Deal with it.
